Growing up in Florida, Rob soaked up the sunshine- fishing, biking, and wake-boarding with friends. Good shorts and swimsuits were essential, but he and his friends didn’t like what was out there. So the solution was simple - Rob set out to make his own.
While on the journey to develop better clothing, Rob visited Bangladesh - a major clothing production country. He was moved by the extreme poverty and the children’s lack of essentials, like clothing. He asked what families needed most, and the overwhelming response was more opportunity and jobs.
Later in his trip, Rob visited some of the world’s best manufacturing facilities where employees receive onsite healthcare, meals, and financial training. Astonished by the enormous impact these companies had on their employees, he realized more of these good paying jobs could make a huge difference.
After returning home, he was inspired to help the amazing people he met in Bangladesh. Rob realized he could merge his dream of creating quality everyday shorts with his passion for philanthropy. This was possible in two ways: He could provide families with quality jobs by manufacturing in Bangladesh, and help children directly by donating a pair of shorts for every item sold.
After more than a year working with industry leaders to develop the best fabrics, fit, and design, Bearbottom Clothing launched in January 2014. True to Rob’s vision, everything we make is adventure ready, insanely comfortable, and constructed to fit perfectly.
Thanks to your support we have already donated tens of thousands of pairs of shorts to children in need.
