The Story Behind Our New Mesh Short Prints

Ever wonder how a piece of clothing goes from an idea to your closet? Most brands might start by pulling up a trend report on a screen. We don't. For our latest collection of mesh shorts, the process didn’t begin in front of a computer. It started outdoors with our in-house designer, Erica, a pencil, and a blank notebook.

Everything you see in this lineup comes directly from our team's love for nature, art, and making clothes you actually want to wear every day. Here’s a peek behind the curtain at how Erica took these shorts from a rough sketch to the final product.

Ditching the Algorithm for the Great Outdoors

We believe inspiration should come from the real world, not a social media feed, because we aren't interested in chasing trends. Before a single digital pixel is even plotted, our studio is covered with field sketches, reference photos, and color swatches pulled straight from the environment.

"Think about the light through the trees, the muted colors of a desert trail, or the tiny details of a wildflower. Every graphic in this collection was taken from a real place and a real feeling." — Erica

Starting with a hand-drawn foundation gives each print its character. Erica lets the lines breathe and evolve naturally, capturing the true vibe of a landscape before turning it into a print you can wear.

Rethinking the Classics: Camo and Botanicals

We wanted to take traditional outdoor prints and give them a fresh, highly considered upgrade. Here’s how we tackled two of the classics:

The Camo, Reimagined

Camouflage has always been about disappearing. We asked: What if it were about honoring your surroundings instead? We developed each pattern by looking closely at the light, terrain, and textures out in the wild.

Whether it's open sand flats or dense tree cover, our colors are pulled directly from the landscapes they represent.

The Garden Print

Nature isn't always rugged! Our Garden print started as a bunch of loose, relaxed sketches of stems, petals, and leaves. By layering them over each other, a simple nature study unexpectedly evolved into one of the most distinctive, versatile graphics in the whole collection.

Why Mesh?

Sometimes, the details you don't expect end up being the most important. We chose mesh fabric for this collection because it brings an athletic energy that totally changes how a printed graphic looks.

If we put these exact patterns on regular flat cotton, they wouldn't have the same life to them. The mesh knit adds depth and movement. We specifically designed these prints for this texture, leaning into it rather than fighting it. In these shorts, the fabric and the pattern are working together, not competing.

Made for Your Everyday

Let's be real: a great design doesn't mean anything if you never actually reach for it in your drawer.

We edit every pattern, pulling back colors, tweaking the scale, and testing how it looks when you're actually moving around. We know your day doesn't fit into one neat box. The prints look sharp from a distance but reward a closer look, and the colors are designed to easily match what you already own.

Taking the Scenic Route

Bringing an idea from a rough outdoor sketch to a finished pair of mesh shorts definitely takes longer. But whether it's a hunting-inspired camo that feels like elevated streetwear or a floral print that goes from the trail to grabbing lunch, that versatility is highly intentional.

Taking the long way around is the reason these shorts have a distinct point of view, rather than just being another "look." It’s the result of our in-house team caring, maybe a little too much, and we think you'll notice the difference.
