The material feels wonderful but the pockets are embarrassing. As others have pointed out, you can't keep anything in the pockets because they make the pockets hang outside the shorts in an embarrassing way. Really surprised that this was not spotted in a quality check. A thicker lining with a sleeve for a smartphone would have made this infinitely better. The Base shorts from Bearbottom were brilliant but apparently they won't return. I'll have to stick to my Lulu lined shorts for now.

The fit was perfect with a 6” inseam. I’m so happy BB has that size for shorter guys. Also, the materials are light weight and perfect for my use.

These are some of the best workout shorts I've every purchased. They're lined too, which I usually don't like. The outer material is so buttery soft and thin, it barely feels like you're wearing anything at all. I'm patiently waiting for them to re-stock the black color in my size as I've bought every other color! Please keep this in your shorts arsenal! They are winners!

Absolutely love these! I’ve tried a lot of of the major brands’ lined shorts and they absolutely fail in comparison to how comfortable and well made these are! All I ask is that you make MORE COLOR OPTIONS!! :)

Field Short (Lined)

The liner was breathable and still offered support. Overall great fit and very comfortable .

These are great shorts, very comfortable, would be great for running, light hiking, etc, which is what I'll use them for. I originally bought them for the gym and they're not kidding when they say ultra-light fabric. You can't sit down in them with anything in your pockets without the weight of the pocket pulling the shorts up to your crotch. Sitting in something like a leg press will make the shorts disappear up to your waist. Glad they're lined. These things are light and silky like lingerie. Think Ranger Panties. I like them even though I probably won't wear them to the gym again. If gym is just treadmill cardio then you're good to go.

The lined part of the shorts is extremely comfortable! I would recommend not putting anything sharp in your pockets because they easily rip with keys.

Definitely pay attention to the fit guide.

I miss the lined base short. Assumed this was the replacement but it’s not near as good.

I’m 5’5” 200lb and large is perfect for me. Pockets, liner, perfect shorts.

The shorts look great. Seem like quality gear. I haven't worn them for a run yet, though. I took the advice being between sizes, and sized up and they're a tad looser than I'd like. I'm concerned, though, that if I exchange for the next size down that they'll be too tight. The back and forth of returns, especially if I go back to the initial size is gonna be a hassle, so I'll probably stick with what I have and hope they'll still fit even if I lose another few pounds during training. Suggestion for Bearbottom: improve your sizing. I wear a 34-35. XL is a touch too big. L seems like it'll be too tight at the waist.

The other qualm I have is that the phone pocket, while a great idea, isn't really practical as it seems like any medium to larger size phone will constantly be jiggling and weighing the shorts down during a run or intense workout.

Very functional and comfortable shorts. The lined version are the best. While the stretchy material is great, it tends to roll up the leg when you sit down.

I own A LOT of 2-in-1 / boxer-brief-lined athletic shorts from different brands, and Bearbottom's Field short immediately shot to the top of my list as soon as I put them on. Comfortable, great cut, great length, super soft fabric. I NEED MORE.

Lightweight shorts that fits well. The pockets stick out if you put anything in it though.

I’ve purchased running shorts that cost more than 2x that are not as comfortable as these. All around great shorts.
